People’s Choice Contest – Best of 2017 | Holly, Michigan Photographer

So I admit – I’ve been dragging my feet a bit in doing this blog post! Why, you ask? I just always have such a hard time narrowing down my photos from the previous year and picking “my favorites.” Because truly, all of my images are “my favorites!”

And every year, I just can’t believe ANOTHER year has gone by. It has now been 11 years! Huh? How did that happen?

I can’t believe a little girl with a neon green, Teenage-Mutant-Ninja Turtle camera took an interest and made it into a passionate profession! It constantly and consistently blows my mind that each person wants ME to take their photos and capture their precious memories. It really means the world to me. I feel so very fortunate to be able to spend so much time with people who value my work and trust me to capture the most important events in their lives

When those people step in front of my camera, whether it be for a half hour or a whole day, they become my everything. I want to give the very best photos possible!

And here is a little way for me to say THANK YOU!

Voting will begin today and end at 11:00 a.m. on January 23rd – exactly 7 days. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places :)

Whoever receives the most votes, will receive a 16×20 canvas of the winning image as well as a free full in-studio or on-location session of their choice! The winning image will also be used on my Web site – – as well as be used for my business cards!

The second place winner will receive an 11×14 mounted print of the winning image and half-off an in-studio or on-location session. Third place will also receive half-off an full in-studio or on-location session as well!

So get out there and tell all of your family and friends to come over and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! It’s my way of giving each and every one of you a great big hug for all you’ve done. I can’t wait to see who wins and what the next year will bring!

(Now keep in mind, voters can only vote ONCE from each computer, so it’s fair. And I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a message or subscribe to receive my blog updates (over on the right-hand side under “email subscription”.) I’d love to keep in touch with each and every one of you!

So I’m calling this a highlight of 2017 … images that I chose that reflect what type of photographer I am as well as images that simply make me smile. I simply can not wait to see what 2018  will bring.   Thank you to my sweet clients of 2017! Your unbelievable support has been absolutely priceless.

The Zerwick Family | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

I absolutely adore this family!  They not only braved 18-degree weather for their family photos but had a blast while doing it!

I’ve taken Chelsea and Zach’s senior photos, so I knew how great it was going to be. The funny part was, Tonya wanted just a light dusting of snow – her wish was granted – with over a foot!

Thank you Zerwick family for making my job extra awesome!

Baby Benjamin | Holly, Michigan Newborn Photographer

Is there anything more precious than a brand, new baby?  I think not!

Family of the Civil War | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

When someone you know does Civil War reenactments and wants to have photos taken, this photographer girl jumps for joy! Quite literally. Just ask Christa!

Her and her children travel Michigan throughout the year, attending these reenactments, including those at Port Sanilac, Greenfield Village and historic Fort Wayne. I can’t imagine how much fun that must be!

I admit, I’ve never been much of a history buff, but there’s something about the Civil War that’s so intriguing.

I can’t even begin to imagine how different things must have been and all of the hardships people went through.  Four years of intense combat left 620,000 to 750,000 soldiers dead, a higher number than the number of American military deaths in both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined! Not to mention, much of the South’s infrastructure was destroyed.

Naturally, when we set a date to do these photos, I was super pumped. I love doing something different and something I can be creative with. I was online researching the Civil War and looking up old photographs for inspiration. I think my husband through I had gone batty!

Thank you Christa for sharing this amazing experience with me. I hope you all had as much fun with it as I did!

The S Family | Rochester Hills, Michigan Family Photographer

Have I mentioned how much I love candids?  I think I may have mentioned that a time or two before 😉

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE when families are relaxed, interact and let me do my thing!

The S Family was amazing! It was like a little get-together and I just happened to be there to document it.

We let the kids play and just snuck in some photos here and there. What a wonderful afternoon!

Ava and Abby | Holly, Michigan Children Photographer

Just check out these two little cuties! Oh my, their daddy is going to be in trouble in a few short years!

We had a fun beach session and they had the most adorable outfits. But lets be honest – I think they could have worn paper sacks and been cute!

Addy and Logan | Holly, Michigan Children Photographer

Could these two be any more photogenic? I think not. And I’m not sure what happened or when, but Addy looks about 16 in these photos! (Sorry Tara!)

I love seeing Addy and Logan every year for their annual photos. They could be models and it shows. What a photographer’s dream!

The Wedding of Jackie and Andy – July 8, 2017 | Plymouth, Michigan Wedding Photographer

There definitely is always a lot of anticipation when it comes to a wedding day. It’s amazing when all the time and energy that is spent on something finally happens and it turns out to be everything you ever dreamed it would.

I’m pretty sure Andy and Jackie’s wedding was just that – everything they had dreamed.

The ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Inn at St. Johns in Plymouth. Everything about their day was gorgeous and classic – her dress, the chapel, the flowers, and the entire bridal party and family! So many memories were made I’m sure that will never be forgotten.

Thank you so much Andy and Jackie! It was a joy to photograph your beautiful wedding! God bless!

Ayden and Natalya | Fenton, Michigan Children Photographer

Oh this family! Not only are ALL of the kids photogenic, but super sweet too! I think they should all go into modeling and make a million dollars 😉

And last week I had the pleasure of taking Ayden and Natalya’s birthday photos! They are growing up right before my very eyes – so crazy to see the changes in each of their faces every year!

Both of them have a MAD sense of style, and I was delighted to see the outfits they picked out for their photo shoot. Natalya had all of the “cool” accessories, of course, and Ayden was rocking his new hair cut. I just love them.

The Wedding of Angela and Lance – June 10, 2017 | Clarkston, Michigan Wedding Photographer

This gorgeous wedding was held at Shepherd’s Hollow in Clarkston! Lance and Angela said they liked the “up north” feel it gave them! And when I arrived, I could certainly see why!

Shepherd’s Hollow is surrounded by beautiful, tall pine trees and the ceremony patio is just outside the reception location. There were so many wonderful, unique little touches, which included Angela’s love of purple! I loved the fact that Lance bought all of his guys unique Converse and his sister even got herself a sparkly pair!

It was clear that they loved Star Wars – my kind of bridal party – with the usher’s tie and a special cake for a groom men’s birthday! Angela even had a  “wifey” Moscow mule cup for her special evening! And the bag piper – so cool!

Watching the bride and groom sit together – surrounded by friends, family, and great love – was an amazing thing to witness. They are both so perfect for each other, and I wish them the absolute best! Congratulations!
