People’s Choice Contest – Best of 2017 | Holly, Michigan Photographer

So I admit – I’ve been dragging my feet a bit in doing this blog post! Why, you ask? I just always have such a hard time narrowing down my photos from the previous year and picking “my favorites.” Because truly, all of my images are “my favorites!”

And every year, I just can’t believe ANOTHER year has gone by. It has now been 11 years! Huh? How did that happen?

I can’t believe a little girl with a neon green, Teenage-Mutant-Ninja Turtle camera took an interest and made it into a passionate profession! It constantly and consistently blows my mind that each person wants ME to take their photos and capture their precious memories. It really means the world to me. I feel so very fortunate to be able to spend so much time with people who value my work and trust me to capture the most important events in their lives

When those people step in front of my camera, whether it be for a half hour or a whole day, they become my everything. I want to give the very best photos possible!

And here is a little way for me to say THANK YOU!

Voting will begin today and end at 11:00 a.m. on January 23rd – exactly 7 days. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places :)

Whoever receives the most votes, will receive a 16×20 canvas of the winning image as well as a free full in-studio or on-location session of their choice! The winning image will also be used on my Web site – – as well as be used for my business cards!

The second place winner will receive an 11×14 mounted print of the winning image and half-off an in-studio or on-location session. Third place will also receive half-off an full in-studio or on-location session as well!

So get out there and tell all of your family and friends to come over and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! It’s my way of giving each and every one of you a great big hug for all you’ve done. I can’t wait to see who wins and what the next year will bring!

(Now keep in mind, voters can only vote ONCE from each computer, so it’s fair. And I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a message or subscribe to receive my blog updates (over on the right-hand side under “email subscription”.) I’d love to keep in touch with each and every one of you!

So I’m calling this a highlight of 2017 … images that I chose that reflect what type of photographer I am as well as images that simply make me smile. I simply can not wait to see what 2018  will bring.   Thank you to my sweet clients of 2017! Your unbelievable support has been absolutely priceless.

The Zerwick Family | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

I absolutely adore this family!  They not only braved 18-degree weather for their family photos but had a blast while doing it!

I’ve taken Chelsea and Zach’s senior photos, so I knew how great it was going to be. The funny part was, Tonya wanted just a light dusting of snow – her wish was granted – with over a foot!

Thank you Zerwick family for making my job extra awesome!

Baby Benjamin | Holly, Michigan Newborn Photographer

Is there anything more precious than a brand, new baby?  I think not!

Family of the Civil War | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

When someone you know does Civil War reenactments and wants to have photos taken, this photographer girl jumps for joy! Quite literally. Just ask Christa!

Her and her children travel Michigan throughout the year, attending these reenactments, including those at Port Sanilac, Greenfield Village and historic Fort Wayne. I can’t imagine how much fun that must be!

I admit, I’ve never been much of a history buff, but there’s something about the Civil War that’s so intriguing.

I can’t even begin to imagine how different things must have been and all of the hardships people went through.  Four years of intense combat left 620,000 to 750,000 soldiers dead, a higher number than the number of American military deaths in both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined! Not to mention, much of the South’s infrastructure was destroyed.

Naturally, when we set a date to do these photos, I was super pumped. I love doing something different and something I can be creative with. I was online researching the Civil War and looking up old photographs for inspiration. I think my husband through I had gone batty!

Thank you Christa for sharing this amazing experience with me. I hope you all had as much fun with it as I did!

The S Family | Rochester Hills, Michigan Family Photographer

Have I mentioned how much I love candids?  I think I may have mentioned that a time or two before 😉

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE when families are relaxed, interact and let me do my thing!

The S Family was amazing! It was like a little get-together and I just happened to be there to document it.

We let the kids play and just snuck in some photos here and there. What a wonderful afternoon!

The Wedding of Jackie and Andy – July 8, 2017 | Plymouth, Michigan Wedding Photographer

There definitely is always a lot of anticipation when it comes to a wedding day. It’s amazing when all the time and energy that is spent on something finally happens and it turns out to be everything you ever dreamed it would.

I’m pretty sure Andy and Jackie’s wedding was just that – everything they had dreamed.

The ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Inn at St. Johns in Plymouth. Everything about their day was gorgeous and classic – her dress, the chapel, the flowers, and the entire bridal party and family! So many memories were made I’m sure that will never be forgotten.

Thank you so much Andy and Jackie! It was a joy to photograph your beautiful wedding! God bless!

The M Family | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

Isn’t this family gorgeous? They came all the way from Australia to have me take their photos!

Ahem … OK, not REALLY, but they were in Michigan visiting family and came to see me too!

The first time I met them was four years ago and Mackenzie was only one! Time sure does have a way of running away with me. Last time I saw Sailor, she was not even walking! Just look at her big grins! Adorbs.

The T Family | Highland, Michigan Family Photographer

I just love this family – seriously! Just look at how photogenic they are!

I was lucky enough to have their daughter as my senior spokes model a few years back (can you say gorgeous?!) and I was so happy to see them again for family photos. This time I got to meet a very special member of their family that I hadn’t previously – Rusty! OMG. How cute is he?! Just look at his little bow tie!

They were so good about my antics and didn’t look at me like I was crazy when I had them hug, sit on the ground or lay on their bellies 😉

Tony and Tracy not only wanted updated photos, but celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary the day of our session! Such an inspiration!

Stephanie and Chris – May 27, 2017 | Sterling Heights, Michigan Wedding Photographer

What an amazing wedding! That’s really all I can say about Stephanie and Chris’ big day!

From the get-go, these two were so much fun and the party never stopped! My assistant and I had THE best time celebrating with their entire family!

We began the day at Strands Salon in Holly, before heading down to Freedom Hill Banquet Center where the ceremony and reception took place. It was a gorgeous sunny Memorial Day weekend – perfect for outdoor nuptials!

It was really hard for me to choose just a few to post, because I wanted to post them ALL. There are so many fun details not shown here – from the baseball cookie favors, the gorgeous table center pieces and cute cake – their wedding was to DIE for!

Thank you so much Stephanie and Chris for having us capture your big day! It means more than you will ever know!

The Bottos Family | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

This family is just a joy to see every year! They make me feel so humble, because they come all the way from Ohio! And I am just so happy to see them! Every year it’s amazing to see how big the boys have gotten!

We met at Seven Lakes State Park this year, and it seems every year we have to deal with some major weather crisis. Last year it was raining and cold while we took photos. The year before that it was 5 degrees! One year it was super hot in November! I guess, in Michigan you never know what you’re going to get!

This year it decided to rain in the morning, and though it was sticky, it cleared up for our session! Yay!

I’ve been taking their photos since Everett was a newborn and I can’t believe that many years have passed! And the twins are growing like weeds as well! Wow, how time flies!

These boys have great big personalities, and it was so cool to watch and see how they interact. I was a lucky girl to be able to capture a bit of that on camera.

Thank you so much Andrea and Ryan! It was so great to see you and the boys this past weekend!
