The G Siblings | Holly, Michigan Children Photographer

What a beautiful family this is! Such sweet siblings and I’m fortunate enough to see them at least once every year!

I’m hoping there are still a few more beach sessions left in my future this summer, but if not, this one is a great way to end the the season!

Family Affair! | Dexter, Michigan Family Photographer

There’s nothing I love more than photographing families! And when they all get together for one big photo session, that makes me even more happy and excited!

I first started photographing Ben, nine years ago when my business was brand new, and since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing his two younger brothers, his aunt and uncle’s wedding, two of his cousins, and countless other family members! What a blessing!

Just check out a quick peek from their latest session, held on grandma and grandpa’s gorgeous property!

Parents Unite! | Holly, Michigan photographer

Can I be absolutely and honest candid here? I’ve been toying with the idea for a while of posting this, and maybe it’s more like therapy for me, but I know there are some out there who can relate. This is definitely not my regular kind of photography session or blog post.

Moms unite! And not just moms – dads too! Let me just say, being a parent is HARD. I don’t care if you’re a working mom, stay-at-home mom or (like in my case) a combination of both, it is so freaking hard.

Have kids, they said. It’ll be fun they said.

I feel like my life has become an endless chore of picking up dirty socks, cleaning up wrappers, loading Nerf guns (over and over and over) and filling toy boxes only to have them dumped out approximately five seconds later. Anyone else feel me?

I work in five-minute increments, between my two-year-old’s melt downs for something he can’t have to being a short-order cook for my almost-nine-year-old. It’s amazing I get anything done at all!

(Bring me the wine! WHERE THE HECK IS THE WINE?!)

Everyone says “The days are long but the years are short.” And I know this has to be true. But man the days are LONG.

Who else counts a trip to the Goodwill store alone a vacation? My gym days are my saving grace.

And then there’s the endless “experts” on parenting or people who think they are experts telling you how you should do things and why. I count my day as a win if I’m not rocking back and forth in the corner by bedtime and no one is yelling or crying.

But in the quiet moments, when my son is snuggled into my side sleeping peacefully, and my daughter still wants to sit on my lap while we’re watching TV, I see the reason the long days are worth it.

I hope they know they are loved more than I can ever express. That they are the center of my world and I would do anything for their little faces. When Cora tries on 15 pairs of soccer cleats because none of them “Feel just right” and when Austin is freaking out because he wants apple juice BEFORE his milk in a RED cup, I hope they know mom is trying.

I want to do the very best I can with them, because no matter what occupation I hold or what I do for the rest of my life, they will be my biggest accomplishment, my proudest endeavor, my largest loves. And for for the rest of my life, I will do everything I can to show them how much they mean to me. Because I am so blessed just to call them my own.

(Just as a disclaimer, these photos are severely over-dramatized. However, on occasion, my house has looked like this! HA! Special thanks to Julie who took the photos and didn’t think my idea was crazy. 😉 )

Austin is like, “What the heck? “

This is my “Mom Zombie” photo lol!

Happy Valentine’s Day! | Holly, Michigan Child Photographer

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of these cuties I was fortunate enough to see for VD Mini Sessions!

Hope your day is filled with lots of love and kisses! XOXO!

People’s Choice Contest – Best of 2017 | Holly, Michigan Photographer

So I admit – I’ve been dragging my feet a bit in doing this blog post! Why, you ask? I just always have such a hard time narrowing down my photos from the previous year and picking “my favorites.” Because truly, all of my images are “my favorites!”

And every year, I just can’t believe ANOTHER year has gone by. It has now been 11 years! Huh? How did that happen?

I can’t believe a little girl with a neon green, Teenage-Mutant-Ninja Turtle camera took an interest and made it into a passionate profession! It constantly and consistently blows my mind that each person wants ME to take their photos and capture their precious memories. It really means the world to me. I feel so very fortunate to be able to spend so much time with people who value my work and trust me to capture the most important events in their lives

When those people step in front of my camera, whether it be for a half hour or a whole day, they become my everything. I want to give the very best photos possible!

And here is a little way for me to say THANK YOU!

Voting will begin today and end at 11:00 a.m. on January 23rd – exactly 7 days. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places :)

Whoever receives the most votes, will receive a 16×20 canvas of the winning image as well as a free full in-studio or on-location session of their choice! The winning image will also be used on my Web site – – as well as be used for my business cards!

The second place winner will receive an 11×14 mounted print of the winning image and half-off an in-studio or on-location session. Third place will also receive half-off an full in-studio or on-location session as well!

So get out there and tell all of your family and friends to come over and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! It’s my way of giving each and every one of you a great big hug for all you’ve done. I can’t wait to see who wins and what the next year will bring!

(Now keep in mind, voters can only vote ONCE from each computer, so it’s fair. And I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave me a message or subscribe to receive my blog updates (over on the right-hand side under “email subscription”.) I’d love to keep in touch with each and every one of you!

So I’m calling this a highlight of 2017 … images that I chose that reflect what type of photographer I am as well as images that simply make me smile. I simply can not wait to see what 2018  will bring.   Thank you to my sweet clients of 2017! Your unbelievable support has been absolutely priceless.

The Zerwick Family | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

I absolutely adore this family!  They not only braved 18-degree weather for their family photos but had a blast while doing it!

I’ve taken Chelsea and Zach’s senior photos, so I knew how great it was going to be. The funny part was, Tonya wanted just a light dusting of snow – her wish was granted – with over a foot!

Thank you Zerwick family for making my job extra awesome!

Baby Benjamin | Holly, Michigan Newborn Photographer

Is there anything more precious than a brand, new baby?  I think not!

Family of the Civil War | Holly, Michigan Family Photographer

When someone you know does Civil War reenactments and wants to have photos taken, this photographer girl jumps for joy! Quite literally. Just ask Christa!

Her and her children travel Michigan throughout the year, attending these reenactments, including those at Port Sanilac, Greenfield Village and historic Fort Wayne. I can’t imagine how much fun that must be!

I admit, I’ve never been much of a history buff, but there’s something about the Civil War that’s so intriguing.

I can’t even begin to imagine how different things must have been and all of the hardships people went through.  Four years of intense combat left 620,000 to 750,000 soldiers dead, a higher number than the number of American military deaths in both World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined! Not to mention, much of the South’s infrastructure was destroyed.

Naturally, when we set a date to do these photos, I was super pumped. I love doing something different and something I can be creative with. I was online researching the Civil War and looking up old photographs for inspiration. I think my husband through I had gone batty!

Thank you Christa for sharing this amazing experience with me. I hope you all had as much fun with it as I did!

The S Family | Rochester Hills, Michigan Family Photographer

Have I mentioned how much I love candids?  I think I may have mentioned that a time or two before 😉

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE when families are relaxed, interact and let me do my thing!

The S Family was amazing! It was like a little get-together and I just happened to be there to document it.

We let the kids play and just snuck in some photos here and there. What a wonderful afternoon!
